Program Ideas

Some ideas for nights where you just can't think!

BASE NIGHTS

Always good this one. Gives you scope to do a variety of activities on the night but by keeping the time short on each base the Scouts don’t get fed up and they have to work to get the challenge done on time.

PLAN A HIKE

This always gets them working as a team. To plan a hike and do it properly takes a great deal of thought. They come up with some good routes.

__

COOK NIGHT

This can either be as per the badge requirements or as a kind of ‘Ready Steady Cook’. Either way the Scouts enjoy it

__

SURVIVAL NIGHT

The Scouts have to imagine themselves in a survival situation. They then have to choose 10 items out of a list of 25 to take salvage and use. Why would they choose those items and how would they use them?

__

NIGHT OUT NIGHT

Just going somewhere and teaching some basic skills. Can be used in conjunction with the Survival Night.

__

PATROL RUN / YOUNG LEADER RUN NIGHT

Two or three weeks before, get the Patrols / Young leaders to come up with ideas for running the night and then let them. It’s great to see the Scouts running thing for themselves and to get an idea of what it’s like to plan an evening

__

SWIMMING NIGHT

Does exactly what it says on the header!

__

GAMES NIGHT

The Scouts are having several games but if you make it so they have to work as a team, its good too.
