The Big Shoot - 2017

The Big Shoot is the annual Archery & Air Rifle competition held at Drum Hill.

This year it will be held on the 13th & 14th of May.

Cost is £5.50 to include a special badge

Entry packs are available

Activation - 2017

Activation is a full day event of activities that will be laid on by the County Active Support Units.

The event takes place near Carsington Water and is a one day event (Saturday for Scouts & Explorers, Sunday for Cubs). Activities will include rock climbing, sailing, caving, archery & air rifle, geocaching, mountain biking, crate stacking, survival skills & canoeing to name a few.

Each Young Person will be able to participate in up to 4 Activity sessions on the day. Activities are allocated based on preferences, capabilities and then the actual availability on the sessions. These cannot be changed on the day.

Activation is a great place to make new friends. Unfortunately, we cannot necessarily group children together with their friends, it is simply not feasible.

The cost, per head, is £20 and this includes the activities and a badge...

All you need to do is get transport to and from Carsington, bring your kit including your lunch and drinks. Note: Full information, including a Kit List, and

Drop-off/Collection Instructions will be sent nearer the time of the event.

Unfortunately camping cannot be offered for Young People as there are limited facilities on site.

Please be aware that, once a booking is received, it is not possible to refund the place or swap it to another day or child.

To book a place, copy and paste the link below and follow the instructions...

Cubs Win Premier Pack - 2016 & 2017

We are proud to announce that our Cubs have won Premier Pack this year. Entering loads of District events has netted them first prize! Well done to them!

Master At Arms Course - Drum Hill

Over the course of two weekends, 18 scouts from all over Derbyshire, including 2 of our Scouts, took part in the first Master At Arms Course for Archery held at Drum Hill Campsite.
The Scouts learnt all about Archery, safety, proper techniques to warm up, looking after the bow and arrows, range set up,  and of course loads of shooting! Over the course 9 dozen scored arrows were shot, (plus quite a few practice ones) seeing the scouts improve their techniques and scores.
Parents were invited along on the final Sunday to have a look at what the Scouts had been up to with a couple of demonstrations by the Scouts too.
Well done to all as everyone achieved their Master At Arms Badge and well done to Sam & Daniel who took part from                                                              18th. Another well done to Sam who got a 3 Gold End (which                                                              is all 3 arrows the Gold in one go)
Pictured here are all the Scouts & Instructors
with their badges and certificates (yes there are
balloons on the targets)

Due to the success of the course, it looks like it will be run again in the Autumn, so stay tuned for more info...
